Welcome to Ustory. We take your privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how Ustory (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our application. By using Ustory, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Ustory is built around privacy protection and processes your data on your device whenever possible. We do not upload your original photos, and we do not collect personal information for advertising or identity profiling. To provide network-based AI features, verify subscriptions, and prevent abuse, we process a minimal amount of necessary technical information in an anonymized manner, as described below.
When you grant access to your system photo library, all core processing (such as scanning, metadata organization, and time/location clustering to build your memory timeline) is performed locally on your device.
To display city and landmark names for your memories, Ustory extracts coordinates embedded in your photos and uses the iOS system’s reverse-geocoding API (CLGeocoder) to query Apple’s official map servers. This request is anonymous, contains only coordinate data, and is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Some core services (such as memory summaries, bond analysis, and smart search) rely on AI Large Language Models (LLMs) for text analysis.
When you actively use network-based AI features, our service proxy layer may process and temporarily record the following anonymous information to provide AI features, verify entitlements, control costs, and prevent abuse:
This information does not include your real name, phone number, email, or precise location, and is not used to build user profiles or for advertising. It is used solely for service availability, fair use, and security.
Backups never include your original photo or video files.
If you use local backup or iCloud sync, backups only include memory events, diaries, tags, companions, AI summaries, and system-internal photo reference identifiers (Local Identifiers). Original photos remain managed by your system Photos library and iCloud Photos. If iCloud sync is enabled, your data is synced directly to your personal Apple-protected CloudKit private database, to which the developer has no access.
To verify your premium entitlements, the app integrates a purchase-validation SDK (RevenueCat). This process transmits only an anonymous transaction token and identifier — excluding your real name or explicit Apple ID credentials — to determine subscription validity, in accordance with App Store anonymization standards.
The optional Face ID / passcode lock uses the native iOS LocalAuthentication framework and is performed entirely within your device’s Secure Enclave. Ustory never accesses, receives, or stores your biometric data or passcode.
Given our local-first architecture, we do not build user profiles in the cloud. The app does not, and cannot, knowingly collect private data from children under the age of 13 (or the age defined by your jurisdiction).
Your memory data is stored on your device, and you may delete it at any time within the app. Anonymous server-side records (such as usage counts and token usage) are automatically expired and removed after a limited period, and are used only for fair-use and security purposes.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any material changes will be announced within the app or take effect through modification of this page. Your continued use of Ustory after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
